Blast Optimization

15 October

Session 1: BMT in the mineral reconciliation value chain (Portuguese)

11 AM BRT | 7 AM MST (UTC-7)

Learn about blast displacement monitoring for open pit mines, a procedure for dilution control that aims to save operational costs and improve mineral reconciliation.

Marcell Silveira - Business Development Manager - BMT has experience in mineral resource estimation in Queensland (Australia) and grade control in Colorado and Nevada (USA). A Mining Engineer from Minas Gerais State University and the Colorado School of Mines, he also holds a Master's Degree in Mining Engineering from West Virginia University, focusing on mineral economics and data analysis in the mining industry. His specialty is blast displacement monitoring for grade control, seeking to minimize dilution and mineral loss in open pit mines.

Session 2: Fragmentation and value improvement in mining, hauling and comminution processes

12 AM BRT | 8 AM MST (UTC-7)

Fragmentation becomes relevant for the optimization of the business, being a transversal variable from the plant to the plant. The explosive, hauling, electrical energy, recovery and processed tonnages are just some of the variables with which it integrates in terms of optimization.

Cristian Rodriguez - Business Development Manager - Split Engineering
Christian is a field Electronic Engineer with specialization in Automation and Control of Industrial Processes, and a higher education in Computer Engineering and Information Technology. He has 30 years' experience - 26 in the mining industry. He has participated in the implementation of logic and strategies for stabilization and optimization of control systems. He is also well versed in expert control systems in crushing and grinding plants, integrating fragmentation data from blasting to grinding in mine to mill projects, as well as developments and improvements to systems that quantify fragmentation.
